Infertility rate in Russia and in the world

You should not be afraid of the word “infertility”. It is not a diagnosis; it is a temporary state of your organism when you fail to achieve a pregnancy in the course of a year of regular sexual life. Infertility can be caused by the decline of both male and female reproductive function. For that reason, both the spouses are recommended to undergo a fertility diagnostics. Infertility can be caused by uterine tubes obstruction, endometriosis, cervical disorder, uterine pathologies, disorders of endocrine character, spermatogenesis dysfunction and a number of other factors which can be detected during diagnostic procedures.
Notwithstanding the opinion of some patients, weight reduction, hormone level improvement and change of way of life are often sufficient to restore fertility. Sometimes infertility treatment requires surgery (for example, in the case of varicocele). When the reduction of fertility function is not considerable, artificial insemination may be recommended as it resembles the natural way of conception. Such assisted reproduction technologies as IVF or ICSI are recommended if there are strong indications to them in the result of a thorough medical examination. If gametes of the patients can’t be used for IVF procedures due to a number of reasons, programs with donated gametes can be recommended: donated sperm or donated egg cells. Surrogacy is recommended, when a woman is not able to carry and deliver a baby. The doctor recommends preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) if there are medical indications to it. Infertility treatment is carried out in specialized clinics of Moscow only after a thorough examination with the help of special equipment and diagnostic methods.
